Here's a letter
just in to Ben: Dear Mr.
Stein, Being a hopeless liberal, I never
thought I'd be standing and applauding you all alone in my pajamas on Sunday
Morning. Okay, there were two cats and a dog present. Regardless, I so look
forward to your commentary on my favorite program, and once again, you did
not let me down. You hit your apex with this morning's message. You have
transcended politics and parties and have achieved what those in power have
yet to approach: the plain and simple truth. You make me feel sane for feeling what I feel and for thinking what I
think. Endless therapy, workshops and self-help groups have not been able to
achieve this. Perhaps you should feel frightened. But the last therapist I
had told me, "The only thing wrong with you is you think something is
wrong with you." From the bottom of my heart, thank you for caring about
the soldiers overseas. I was nauseated that no politician mentioned them. I
am a high school teacher (yes, we all should have our heads examined). My
calendar in my classroom has many yellow ribbons with many names on it; the
names of former students in the military. I keep them on the wall so that I
can secretly pray for them every time I see them on the wall. Importantly,
students in the classroom can see the ribbons on the wall and feel just a bit
that others are sending protective
thoughts and prayers to surround their brothers and sisters. Thank you for mentioning Dustin, Susie,
